In the developing world 220 million women want contraception but can’t get it. As a result many women become vulnerable to unplanned pregnancy and have the risk of seeing their child die from poverty. All individuals should be able to decide the size of their family and who they live with. This is essential to end poverty and create a more sustainable world.
With international travel you will be responsible for the financial oversight for a large, multi-country and multi-donor funded programme, the Safe Abortion Action Fund (SAAF). You will provide financial co-ordination and monitoring, donor reporting and financial capacity building for grantees to support the strategic aims of the SAAF programme.
You have a degree or equivalent standard of education and are a qualified accountant (CIMA/ACA/ACCA). You have a strong background in budgeting and financial analysis, with experience in Charity Fund accounting, financial control systems and audit. Experience of international development issues and/or project implementation and monitoring is essential, as is experience of working in finance in developing countries. It is not essential to have previously worked in-house for a charity.
You have excellent verbal and written communication skills to train staff and give presentations, strong analytical skills and excellent IT skills including knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications. Knowledge of financial reporting systems is essential, as is fluent English. Other languages (French and/or Spanish) are desirable.
