About Assemble:
Assemble are a young, award-winning design and architecture practice based in London who have been recently nominated for the 2015 Turner Prize. Our work focuses on using design as a tool to improve social and cultural life and is committed to uncovering the extraordinary opportunities that exist on the fringes of everyday life and the built environment.
We champion a working practice that is interdependent and collaborative that challenges prevailing modes of how cities function and architecture is developed. Our work covers activities including design, brief development, organising events and hands-on construction, all of which is underpinned by the belief that broader involvement results in richer results. Our projects to date have been characterised by our ambition to challenge and delight, with all of our projects sharing a sense of ingenuity and surprise.
We share our studio and workshop space at Sugarhouse Studios with a diverse range of skilled makers and artists including carpenters, stonemasons, printmakers and textile designers, offering a rich pool of possibilities for collaboration and creating a diverse working environment. In addition to our design studio we have extensive facilities for woodwork, metalwork and casting which allows us to explore in-house prototyping and prefabrication enabling us to test designs at 1:1.
