An exciting opportunity to take up a role in the UK’s most established Israel charity
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with strong accounting skills and the flexibility to work effectively within a small team and to be able to tackle tasks using their initiative.
The successful candidate will report to the CEO and Board and will have a key role in developing the reporting and analysis of timely and relevant management information to the charity’s senior management and trustees. As a qualified accountant in this operational post, they will have an important part to play in a review of processes.
JNF is the UK’s leading Israel charity, supporting and developing land, water and other environmental needs in Israel in particular in the Negev.
Key Responsibilities
Develop strong and effective finance support for operating departments
Take a key role in the identification, implementation and managing of process improvements within the Finance function and for the Charity’s finances
Contribute to the development and application of the Charity’s system of internal controls in order to improve financial control and minimise risks
Assist in a review of accounting policies and practices, including documenting and advising on the application of policies within the charity
Reconcile balance sheet and other accounts as required
Consolidate monthly management reports and accounts
Preparation of statutory annual reports and accounts (3 main entities)
Prepare statutory returns for HMRC, VAT, Charity Commission and other company secretarial matters
Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
Process payroll
Manage treasury, banking and investment and review procedures and policies
Produce budgets and forecasts
Monitor purchase requisition system
Monitor Bequest Department
Manage daily activities of Finance Department
The post holder will also:
Participate in team meetings, etc., as required.
Provide written reports and updates to the CEO.
Work within an equal opportunities framework.

Desired Qualifications: The controller candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience. Preference will be given to candidates with the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations. 2+ years post qualification experience. IT, software and advanced Excel skills. Experience working for a charity – beneficial.
Experience in Xero and Iris – advantage.
The post holder will also:
Contribute to achieving the overall objectives of the Charity.
Undertake any additional and ad hoc tasks as required.
