About Oaks
Oaks are business development specialists, expert in helping organisations – across multiple sectors – to run more profitable and sustainable businesses by supporting with critical functions such as business planning, organisational development and fundraising. Oaks are presenting a fantastic opportunity for an experienced and talented bid writer to join our Grant Funding Team of highly-experienced individuals. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm, commitment, a strong work ethic, and several years of bid writing experience. Our team supports a range of organisations in the third sector from across the UK to generate income from a variety of grant funding sources; we provide practical support and advice to enable our client base to achieve significant social impact in the communities in which they work.
The organisations we currently support include:
• Tottenham Hotspur Foundation (THF): Oaks supported THF to secure £1.75m in grant funding towards the conversion of a grade II* listed building into a multi-purpose community hub
• Society of St James (SSJ): The Oaks team have supported SSJ to access a wide range of grant sources that will enable them to provide accommodation and support to over 2,500 vulnerable people on the margins of society who have diverse and complex issues surrounding homelessness, substance/alcohol addiction and mental health problems.
• Tennis Foundation (TF): Oaks has secured significant funding through the Big Lottery that will enable the TF to provide opportunities to encourage people to both play and enjoy tennis, as well as to maximise their personal potential through the sport.
• Midland Psychology (MP): Oaks has been commissioned by MP to generate grant funding that will enable them to improve the psychological health and emotional well-being of those with whom they work and, by doing so, contribute to the development of healthier communities.
The Grant Funding Team supports organisations in the third sector by:
• Providing governance advice and best-practice models
• Forming charitable vehicles and guiding charity development
• Developing and defining grant funding strategies
• Assisting with broader business practices to ensure that they are ‘grant-ready’
• Generating fundraising potential through a range of grant funding sources
• Supporting them to be more profitable, sustainable and effective organisations
Account Management Responsibility
• Independent management of key accounts, working to support a wide range of organisations across the third sector
• Support key accounts to develop fundraising and grant strategies that will maximise the grant funding potential of the organisation
• Interface with clients in person, in writing and verbally both within an office environment and in the field
• Supporting clients, where relevant, with broader business support and advice, such as advice with governance and external communications
• Working directly with the client to plan appropriate projects and identify the relevant funders for you to apply to; aligning the right grant funding and tendering opportunities to the most suitable projects
• Managing the whole application process – identification, planning, writing, submitting and dealing with feedback questions
• Inform and inspire through verbal and written communications, and collate and present large quantities of information in a clear and compelling way
• Working towards ensuring return on investment to key clients in order to establish and maintain long-term and successful working partnerships
Internal Responsibilities
• Independent responsibility for key accounts, ensuring we surpass contractual targets and develop long-term client partnerships
• Deliver excellent customer service ensuring optimal client satisfaction levels across all key accounts
• Play a key role in shaping the strategic direction of the Oaks funding team
• Line management responsibilities and contribution to wider team training and development
• Identification of new business opportunities for the Trusts and Foundations Grant Funding Team
• Any other reasonable duties in-line with the organisation’s core activities and services
• Flexible working hours to be able to fulfil duties that may, on occasion, fall on an evenings or weekend
