Digital / Print Editor – Rapid News Communications Group – Chester

Can you write about the Apple watch on Monday, implant technology on Tuesday and mergers and acquisitions in big pharma on Wednesday? Are you social media-savvy, commercially-minded and at home interviewing key industry figures?

Are you a team player with an enquiring mind and the ability to write clear, concise, engaging content? Are you excited by science and technology and have a love of both digital and print publishing?

Based in Chester and reporting to the group editor, Rapid News Communications is looking for a digital & print editor who will be responsible for overseeing, editing and creating digital content as well contributing to the print titles where necessary. You will also be expected to look after and develop the social media communities for the brands – Medical Plastics News, European Pharmaceutical Manufacturer and Digital Health Age –  strengthening the community and growing the audience.

The role will be office-based with national and international travel also expected for editorial coverage of events, exhibitions and conferences.

Ideally the position would suit a second-jobber and we would welcome applications from candidates with a life science background.

Responsibilities:

Edit and write up-to-the-minute online content.
Take charge of the digital newsletter content.
Develop and grow the group’s social-media strategy, including tracking and reporting on social media outcomes.
Contribute content to the print titles where necessary.
Identify growth opportunities and sectors for the product.
Commission and edit articles and blogs from external contributors
Attend meetings as necessary.
Gather new industry contacts and feed to sales team.
Attend key industry exhibitions and trade shows.
Keep on top of emerging digital media technologies and strategies; propose adoption of new technologies where applicable.
Complete other duties and projects as assigned by management.
Consistently exceed company expectations.

Key Requirements:

Ambitious, motivated, self-starter, excellent communication skills,

Ambitious focused individual with 2+ years B2B editorial experience.
Experience in both online editing and content creation, particularly digital communications including blogging and social media.
Strong work ethic, positive attitude and desire to impact on products.
Excellent written and verbal communication/reporting skills.
Understanding of the B2B marketplace and relationship with advertising.
IT skills – Word, PowerPoint, Excel, content management. Experience of Photoshop useful.
Passionate about editorial and a belief in the value of good content.
Team player with ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and exciting environment.
