Marketing and Events Manager

Salary: £15,000 – £18,750 pro rata, based on experience.

The current post holder is moving on, so we are looking for an innovative, well organised and self motivated person, who is not afraid of hard work, to fill their shoes.

Raceways Events CIC is a small events company based in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire. As a community interest company, our profits go to our partner charity Kids Run Free.

This is a fantastic opportunity to combine your marketing skills and experience with hands on event management and development within a small, closely knit environment.

Interested?
The successful applicant will be able to work using their own initiative but equally be a team player with excellent organisational skills that allow for the prioritisation of a busy workload. Strong communication skills and an eye for detail are also required.

An understanding of the sporting events industry is essential.

The hours of work are 30 hours per week. Flexible working may be available to the right person, but you must be available to work evenings and weekends as required. A current driving licence and access to a car is essential.

We are offering an initial 12 month contract with the prospect of a permanent role subject to performance.

In the longer term, there is an opportunity to take on a greater role in the management of the company.

Job Description – Marketing and Events Manager

Raceways is a very small company, the job holder reports to the Director but works very closely with the Project Manager to market and deliver the existing portfolio of events and develop new events. Activities will range from developing strategy to putting out race direction signs and everything in between.

Key event tasks

• Schedule events within the calendar
• Liaise with new and existing venues
• Liaise with partners and stakeholders
• Identify and recruit event staff, both paid and volunteer
• Research and monitor event trends and make recommendations based on this
• Research, develop and design and new events and courses
• Race day management and coordination
• Manage the administration of race entries and deal with race enquiries

Key marketing tasks

• Develop and implement a marketing strategy, including social media
• Identify target markets
• Agree and deliver participation targets
• Plan and implement campaigns
• Produce marketing materials
• Monitor and report on the effectiveness of all aspects of marketing activity
• Liaise with current stakeholders
• Identify and develop potential sponsors
• Maintain rationalise and develop the existing databases of entrants etc
• Analyse data, identify trends and make recommendations

Key administration tasks
• Develop and manage budgets
• Procurement, ensuring best value

Personal Specification

Essential Criteria
• Relevant further education or equivalent experience
• Significant experience of running, triathlon or cycling events, either as a participant, volunteer or part of the event team
• Knowledge and understanding of the sports event industry
• Knowledge and experience of marketing, including use of social media and its application to sports events
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating an ability to communicate with, and relate to, a wide range of people and organisations
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• Able to manage a complex workload and re-prioritise as required
• Research and analysis
• Leadership of a wide range of people including volunteers
• IT literate including Microsoft office
• Full driving licence
• Problem solving and creative thinking
• Access to a car
• Ability to work weekends and evenings as required
• Flexibility
• Willingness to get hands dirty
• Sense of humour
