Job Title: Products Editor – Convenience Store
Responsible To: Editor – David Rees
Purpose of Role:
To write new product and promotions based news stories and features, and to make editorial decisions regarding the hierarchy of content for inclusion in both print and online editions.
Key responsibilities & tasks:
To take the lead role in preparing product news pages for the print magazine
To take the lead role in posting product news stories to the Convenience Store website and email newsletters
To write news stories for the above, and to work with other team members to ensure that copy is produced accurately and on time
To take the lead writer role in a number of specific product categories, as required
To write product-based features with the support of advertising, as required.
To support the editorial team by writing other news stories or features, as required
To drive reader engagement within the areas outlined above through digital and social media, and face-to-face meetings
To represent Convenience Store at manufacturer brand launches and initiatives, and at industry trade shows and events
Key skills and qualifications required for role:
Ability to write news and features, with some experience of both
Ability to make editorial decisions about stories for inclusion and to allocate space appropriately
Ability to use different technology platforms for print, website, email newsletters and social media
Ability to represent the Convenience Store brand professionally with readers and clients over the telephone, at face-to-face meetings and at trade shows and other industry events
Ability to integrate and mix comfortably in a team environment
