Regional Talent Manager – Women & Girls – England & Wales Cricket Board

Job Description
Overall purpose
The post-holder will support the success of the sub-international stages of the Women’s Cricket Pathway and will assist the National Talent Manager on the delivery of a game-wide strategy for talent development. In line with Cricket Unleashed the role will support the network in implementing an equitable and inclusive pathway for female cricketers.

Principle Responsibilities:
• Work with the National Talent Manager to implement and monitor a strategic plan for the development of players through the Women’s Cricket Pathway, with a focus on connecting County Cricket to Regional Development Centres, ensuring a joined up, game-wide plan for developing talent.
• Ensure the delivery of the regional and sub-regional Women’s Cricket Pathway provides an accessible and game-wide understanding of the player journey and a unified and aligned route to the top.
• Ensure that the Regional Development Centres and Counties receive high levels of support, direction and monitoring with a focus on developing an effective communication plan to ensure a collaborative plan for the delivery of talent development.
• Implement a regional framework for talent development that is aligned with the national strategic plan and articulates the talent profile and the training, competition and support required at each stage of the pathway to deliver success on the international stage.
• Deliver the Talent Recruitment Strategy within the region working closely with the Head of Scouting.
• Ensure that distribution of funding within the Pathway is utilised effectively.
• Monitor and measure the impact and effectiveness of the Women’s Cricket Pathway through clearly defined progression markers and outputs.
• Develop coaches and coaching within the region to ensure the emerging coaching strategy supports the development of coaches to work within the Women’s Cricket Pathway.
• Provide excellent coaching with the ability to deliver at all levels of the pathway.
• Keep up to date with best practice and expertise across the fields of talent development and talent identification to support the drive for a world leading Women’s Cricket Pathway.

Job Context:
Within the ‘Great Teams’ section of the game-wide strategy for cricket, ‘Cricket Unleashed’, it is stated that “Our pathway for talented boys and girls will be clear and will give every young player an equal chance of maximising their potential. Players will have the chance to join the player pathway at any point and will always be encouraged to do so.” Further, it is stated that success in this area will be measured by “Consistent and clearly defined county pathways that provide opportunities for all under-16s to play professional and elite cricket”. This will enable the game to “deliver winning teams that inspire and excite through on-field performance and off-field behaviour”.

The purpose of the Women’s Cricket Pathway is to work together to develop great players for England and for Performance Cricket (County & KSL) in England & Wales. It seeks to do this through delivering a clear and equitable pathway that challenges the most talented players through competition and individualised training programmes.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
• Understanding of what it takes to develop talent in order to be successful in performance sport
• Excellent leadership, communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Extensive experience and understanding of talent development in team sports
• Experience and skills in planning, programming, organization and monitoring of individualized performance plans
• Experience of Coaching within a talent development domain
• An understanding of Coach Development
