We have an immediate opening for an experienced industrial product designer to join our product design and development team. Light Projects designs and manufactures innovative architectural lighting products for professional specifiers and designers. We also distribute complementary product ranges from specialist international partners.
Applicant should be a self-motivated team leader with a practical and methodical approach to problem solving in product design and manufacturing. The position would suit a senior product designer with proven experience in design, development and manufacturing of lighting equipment.
Candidate should demonstrate skills in:
practical luminaire design ranging from developing new product families to bespoke one off solutions
familiarity with all development processes from concept through prototypes to hand-over for final manufacture
understanding of current LED sources with an enthusiasm for researching and assimilating new technologies
communicating design concepts with a practical eye to manufacture
developing relationships with existing and new suppliers in UK and abroad
3D CAD Design (preferably Solidworks)
MS Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access
graphic design packages (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite)
practical ‘hands on’ assembly, evaluation and testing of samples and prototypes
Duties:
developing new product designs
supporting junior product designers
integrating new technologies into existing product ranges
supervise internal and external product testing
Working with the design and manufacturing team to:
generate product sales brochures and technical data-sheets
produce manufacturing documentation
assemble and evaluate development samples
assist sales engineers with technical product support
