Job Description
Reporting to the Academy Head of Coaching and the Academy Head of Goalkeeping, you will be responsible for the technical development, and to assist in the Physical, Mental, Social and Academic development of the schoolboy GK Academy players within the Foundation Phase (9-11) and Youth Development Phase (12-16) at the Football Club as prescribed by the Club philosophy, Academy Manager, Head of Coaching and Head of Academy Goalkeeping. With specific focus on the Foundation and Youth development phase with occasional support within the Professional Development Phase.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Academy Manager, Head of Coaching, Head of Academy Goalkeeping and Lead Phase Coaches to ensure the continuous development of all Academy goalkeepers.
• Effectively deliver a high level of training for the Academy’s goalkeeping development programme.
• Ensure all Academy goalkeepers are fully prepared for games and have a comprehensive development programme, including liaising with the video analysis and strength & conditioning departments.
• Monitor goalkeeping coaching and promote good practice across all phases.
• Create a positive environment for player development; display high standards of behaviour and appearance and encourage the same from all coaches and players.
• Ensure timely and accurate updating of player information on the Academy’s player management system (PMA).
• Manage and work with Head of Academy Goalkeeping to plan, deliver and evaluate coaching sessions in line with the Academy’s philosophy, goalkeeping coaching plan and coach competency framework.
• Liaise with the Head of Academy Recruitment and other key staff to identify and recruit goalkeepers across all age groups.
• Undertake continued professional development organised by the Academy and in line with EPPP rules.
• Attend and report at Parents’ Evenings and phase meetings.
• Undertake other duties as directed by the Academy Manager, Head of Coaching or Head of Academy Goalkeeping.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential Specification:
• UEFA ‘B’ GK Licence Minimum
• FA Youth Award Level 3
• Excellent knowledge of Professional Football
• Demonstrable experience working in Academy Football
• Focus on individual player development within a team process
• Creative presentation skills and experience of presentation (preferred)
• Excellent interpersonal skills, be adaptable to work with members of staff across departments and senior staff
• Ability to work under pressure and willing to work unsociable hours to meet deadlines
• Dedicated to self-improvement and personal development
• Organised, methodical and logical approach to work
• High level I.T and presentation skills, in building and delivering relevant information
• BFAS First Aid award
• Enhanced DBS Check
Desirable Specification:
• UEFA GK A Licence (working towards)
• Previous professional playing experience
