Apprentice Teaching Assistant – St Michaels C of E Primary School – OTHER ORGANISATIONS

Ready to make
a difference to individual lives, supporting learning and community? As a Teaching Assistant (NVQ Level 2) for St Michael’s, you will need to be hard-working, dedicated to supporting children, ready to face a challenge, able to work well as part of a team and do all of this whilst demonstrating our Christian Values. This role would give you an opportunity to experience all aspects of school life, working with children in class, and outside in formal lessons and in more informal scenarios. This will be a fixed term contract until August 2021.

At the beginning of the year, you would be supporting the teacher leading the lesson with an increasing expectation for you to contribute and lead parts of the sessions including behaviour management. You will also be in other curriculum lessons developing relationships and working with small groups supporting academic and social and emotional development. You will be part of the lunch play team with a responsibility for improving levels of activity in identified groups/specific children.
St Michael’s C of E Primary School is an Outstanding school, located in Heavitree, Exeter. It has capacity for around 420 pupils, who’s behaviour is usually exemplary in lessons and around school. Since the school became an academy in September 2013, pupils’ standards have risen rapidly and consistently. The school is inclusive and, as such, welcomes children with a range of needs and from a variety of backgrounds. The school has enjoyed an excellent reputation for serving the local community for over 140 years.
