Assistant Sport Scientist – Harlequin Football Club

Job Description
Founded in 1866, Harlequins is a rugby club that is recognised around the world.
The club is a founding member of the RFU and boasts more presidents than any other club as well as a healthy dose of international players. Most recently the club has had three England captains leading their country.

Success on the pitch demands even more success off the pitch so the club is strengthening its Coaching staff. The club wishes to appoint a Sports Scientist to work in our Playing department to help drive the development of our performance.

Role: Assistant Sport Scientist
Location: Guildford (Surrey Sports Park)
Remuneration: Competitive
Duration: 2 years
Reporting to: Head of Strength & Conditioning
Hours: The successful candidate must be prepared to work weekends and Bank Holidays.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:
• To be involved in the management of all of Harlequins performance data from first team through to Academy.
• To manage the clubs monitoring systems.
• To assist with Analysis department in integration of data.
• To assist with screening and testing procedures.
• To perform data analysis and record keeping.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
• An under-graduate qualification in a related field.
• A sound grasp of heart rate systems (First Beat), GPS (Catapult) and Excel.
• At least 1 year of experience of working within a sports science department in a competitive sport, preferably in a team environment.
• To have a sound grasp of data management.
• An advanced knowledge of statistical methods and its use in sport.
• An understanding of Strength and conditioning methods.
• Must be confident in their ability to build relationships with a range of personnel.

Desirable:
• UKSCA accreditation, or the ability to complete within 6 months.
• A detailed knowledge of Rugby Union.
