Excellence, Virtue, Devotion
The Avanti Schools Trust (AST) is a growing multi academy trust with four schools already open – primary, secondary and all-through. Further new schools are planned for opening across the UK, with a focus on the midlands and inside the M25.
We are looking for an outstanding practitioner to become the Assistant Vice Principal (Director of Futures) for our 6FE secondary combined with our 2FE primary school in Harrow. You might currently be or have had experience of being a head of subject (within ICT/Computer Sciences) – in a secondary or all-through primary/secondary school. You will be looking for a new and very different challenge and if appointed, would support the Principal and his senior team in the strategic leadership of the Futures faculty as Director of Futures (ICT, sciences, design technology, business studies, economics). You will also have a whole school, cross-phase senior leadership role in curriculum development and timetabling as well as overseeing IT infrastructure and elearning.
Ours ia a project which will deliver a new build over the coming eighteen months as the school grows from what will be in September close to 800 students (Reception, years 1, 2 and 3 in primary and years 7-10 in secondary) to the final roll of 1680 including 360 post-16. The Director of Futures, a member of the Executive and Extended Senior Leadership Team, will also be the operational leader of computer science and the strategic leader of the faculty as a whole. The spinal range for the position is expected to be reviewed as the school grows. A draft job description and person specification in included in this pack. The secondary phase, currently based at our soon to be permanent primary site in Stanmore will move into another, temporary location in Pinner, an excellent, fully equipmed facility, for the next 18-20 months. In 2017, we look to move into a bespoke £20+ million new build; a build currently in planning application phase.
Our schools are different. Avanti schools secure exceptional outcomes for learners who make outstanding progress. But our vision is more than one simply rooted in achieving excellent results. In our uniquely holistic provision, character formation and spiritual insight stand side-by-side with educational excellence. Our ethos, which blends the traditional with the modern, embraces practices such as mindfulness, yoga, meditation and a vegetarian diet – all resting on a foundation which draws upon the spiritual and philosophical teachings of the Vaishnava sect of the Hindu tradition. This has led Ofsted to reflect, in all of our schools to date and including Avanti House School, commenting on how our ethos contributes to outstanding behaviour.
