The Mobility DTP
The Defence and Security (D&S) sector plays a vital role in the UK economy accounting for £14 billion in exports in 2018. In an era of fast-paced technological advancement, this sector constantly strives not only to evolve to better understand the use and impact of alternative technology, but also to source and retain a highly skilled UK-based research workforce against competitive offers from other commercial sectors.
The Mobility DTP pilot is a significant national centre with a high level of ministerial interest that will enable mobility between industry and academia, working closely with key partners within the UK Defence and Security (D&S) sector enhancing skills and capability through increased diffusion of knowledge between the business and academic sectors.
Piloting a novel modular doctoral training programme co-created with industry and providing bespoke training our aim is to increase the number of doctoral-level employees in the sector and to facilitate the return to study of employees and transitioners, such as those seeking mid-career change, or return to work in a research-led high-tech industry whilst exploring ways in which the DTP could be scaled up and applied to additional sectors of the UK economy.
The Position
You will have proven experience of managing key relationships within the Commercial, Defence and Security or Postgraduate Research Management Sectors whilst also being able to plan and implement operational processes and structures.
You will be responsible for:
Leading the development of relationships with corporate partners and key national and international funders
Planning business engagement and outreach strategies
Leading the development of operational structures and governance of the DTP
Producing management information, reports, briefings and presentations to inform and update DTP partners and funders
Coordinating all aspects of the student lifecycle, working with supervisors to ensure that milestones are meet.
Leading programmes of work that feed into University level boards to help shape the future operational directions of DTP’s
Managing the financial resources of the DTP
This is a part time position 0.6 FTE, fixed term until 30th Sept 2027.
