Job Description
‘Developing People Through Rugby’
Strathmore Community Rugby Trust was established on 1 June 2017. We are a charitable organisation (Scottish Charity Number SC047475) which believes rugby has the power to enhance people’s lives. We aim to instil the rugby ethos into participants, coaches, and volunteers of all ages so that they can develop and enjoy the physical and mental health benefits of rugby, play an active part in their local community, and have a lifelong involvement in rugby. We aim to operate sustainable programmes centred on our values of rugby, health, and community.
We are incredibly proud of the exceptional organisation we have developed and following the retiral of the existing Chair, we are seeking a to appoint a new Chairperson who can help us further develop. This is a unique opportunity to join a forward thinking, dynamic group of people, committed to continuing to set high standards and leading the way in community initiatives whilst working closely with key partners. We are looking for someone who shares our ambition and drive, is excited to develop people through rugby, and who wants to ensure our success and longevity through robust financial and organisational sustainability.

Skills/Competencies Sought
● A proven track record of successful leadership
● Experience of working in a board or similar forums at a senior level
● A working knowledge of sport and/or the public and/or private sectors
● Financial and commercial acumen
● Experience of building and maintaining strong, transparent relationships with key stakeholders
● An ability to support, challenge and manage relationships with colleagues, Board/Committee Members, Other Volunteers and Staff
● An understanding of the values of rugby
● An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities, and liabilities of being a Charity Trustee.

Commitment Required
Trustees generally meet four times a year. The Chairperson would also be expected to meet with the Community Trust Manager four times a year. Board members are expected to make a three-year commitment to their role.
The new Chairperson will be supported by the retiring Chairperson, who will be continue as Treasurer, a full Board of Trustees, and the team of employed staff.

Renumeration
This is a voluntary position. All reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
