David Gill Gallery, a leading gallery in contemporary design based in St James’s, London, exhibits limited edition furniture by some of the world’s most successful contemporary architects and designers, and has had a gallery in London for the last 28 years.

We are recruiting a gallery assistant whose focus will be client relations and sales and to be based in St James’s, London. The candidate needs to be impeccably dressed with a warm, intelligent manner with clients, and who enjoys assisting and supporting the gallery director and owners with all aspects of client relations and sales.

Person spec:

quick typist, good phone manner, strong memory skills for names, spelling, and past events
excellent attention to detail and the ability to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment
excellent administration skills
excellent customer service skills and the confidence to work with a variety of people
excellent time management skills and ability to work based on priorities and plan in advance
an interest in and general knowledge of art and design
background or passion for interiors
currently residing in London
needs to be fluent in English and also possessing strong language skills in one or two more languages (i.e. French, Arabic, Chinese, Italian, Spanish etc)

The candidate will be at the front desk of the gallery welcoming visitors and answering phones and therefore is the first point of contact; the main focus of the role is client relations and sales reporting to the gallery director and owners – this involves preparing and sending sales packages, organising meetings at the gallery with current and prospective collectors and interior designers. The role will also involve working with PR/press and some PA duties.
