Table Tennis England is the National Governing Body for table tennis in England. We fundamentally believe that table tennis is good for people, contributing to their physical and mental health and wellbeing and their individual development. We have a number of projects and programmes that enable a wide demographic to take part in the sport, in a way that is suitable for them.
The function of the Development and Volunteer department is to work closely with the traditional and core market, namely clubs, leagues and volunteers to improve the experience of participants. It also leads on schools, CYP, equality and disability programmes, making sure that table tennis is a fully inclusive sport.
The Coach and Education Team aim to provide opportunities and support to all new and current licensed coaches. To acheieve this we work towards:-
– Providing an accessible and engaging offer for new coaches entering the pathway
– Enable coaches in England to become the best they can be, whatever their coaching environemnt
– To ensure our coaches provide a safe environment for all participants
– Improve customer experience across all coach education programmes and provide a positive experience for participants in the sport in line with the stratgey
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
General
• Design and development of Table Tennis England qualifications/training awards, including: learning programmes, delivery resources and qualification specifications.
• Liaising with/building effective relationships with technical staff and authors in relation to the development of qualifications and resources.
• Highlighting areas where current qualification provision is in need of revision or improvement.
• Working with the Coach and Education Manager to identify delivery workforce training and approved centre programme requirements by carrying out training needs analysis.
• Development, implementation and monitoring of Table Tennis England internal and external verification strategy and programme for CIMSPA qualifications.
• Working with 1st4Sport Qualifications regarding quality assurance, external verification and to maintain approved centre status.
• Working with the Coach and Education Administrator to monitor, and maintain a database of, approved delivery venues, ensuring that all relevant statutory requirements are adhered to.
• Provide reports on qualification registrations, completion and learner progress.
• Work with the Coach and Education Manager to successfully deliver the coaching and education elements of the Table Tennis England Mission 2025 strategy and the People strategy for the Development and Volunteering department.
• Implement recommendations from the UK Coaching Framework, CIMSPA Framework or industry best practice.
• Work with the Coach and Education Manager to deliver Table Tennis England’s Coach Licence scheme, including: member benefits and resources.
• Support with the development of coach resources that align with the Coach Licence Scheme.
• Identify areas to enable Table Tennis England to increase efficiencies and increase income within our course programmes.
• Be willing to be creative and try new things to ensure we stay at the forefront of coach and education development.
PERSON SPECIFICATION/KEY SKILLS
Qualifications
• Table Tennis Coaching qualifications essential
• Tutor/Assessor qualifications are desirable.
Previous Experience
• Strong knowledge and understanding of technology, including: Microsoft Office and web based technologies.
• Experience of CRM databases is desirable.
• Knowledge of coaching assessment techniques and principles.
• Proven ability to develop programmes to lead and grow an education workforce.
• Proven experience of delivering intervention strategies for the improvement of qualifications and their delivery.
• Experience of communicating to and supporting a wide audience.
• Strong project management skills, with the ability to work to project plans and meeting deadlines.
• Ability and flexibility to visit the education delivery workforce in the field.
• Knowledge and understanding of mentoring, training needs analysis processes and developing CPD programmes
Personal Attributes
• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Strong influencing skills and a solution focused approach to working cross departmentally with other colleagues.
• A committed and loyal individual, prepared to work the necessary hours including evenings and weekends.
• Full driver’s licence.
