Salary up to £19,000 p.a. plus benefits
The post will be full-time, office-based and offered with an initial one-year contract.
The Energy Institute (EI) is the chartered professional membership body for the global energy industry, providing learning and networking opportunities, professional recognition and energy knowledge resources for individuals and companies worldwide. It serves society with independence, disseminating knowledge, skills and good practice towards a safe, secure and sustainable energy system.
The role is to support the editorial teams responsible for producing the Energy Institute’s two monthly magazines: Energy World and Petroleum Review, and specifically to help to manage and extend the online offering based on content from the magazines. There will also be scope to contribute to other areas, such as writing for the magazines, attending press events and magazine production.
Key roles and responsibilities will include:
Contributing to the development of the online magazines, including updating content, focusing on a new content platform, engaging with members online and via newsletters, social media etc.
Picture research – knowledge of Photoshop would be an advantage
Occasional magazine layout work – knowledge of InDesign would be an advantage
Contributing to reporting and writing news content for the magazines and online
Contributing to writing occasional feature articles for the magazines
Attending occasional press events in London and elsewhere
Subediting articles
Proofreading as required
Assisting editorial teams in other editorial duties as required
Administrative tasks as required
Candidates will:
Be a self starter and enthusiastic
Have an interest in journalism and some experience of contributing editorial content to magazines/newsletters or online platforms
Be prepared to develop their role as part of the team
Interest in energy and some industry knowledge would be advantageous, as would a science background
