Female Boxing Coach – Fight for Peace

Job Description
Fight for Peace is seeking a highly motivated individual to become a Female Boxing Coach at our community-based sports and education youth Academy within the Borough of Newham. Fight for Peace invests in the potential of young people with the hardest to reach being actively targeted and supported via Fight for Peace’s holistic youth provision which ensures that young people receive a range of support including: Boxing and Martial Arts (B&MA), Education, Employability, Support Services, and Youth Leadership.

Reporting directly to the Sports Coordinator, the Female Boxing Coach will assist the Head Coach in delivering planned sessions to our young people and promote female participation and retention at Fight for Peace’s London Academy. The successful candidate will be expected to:

• Work with the Sports Coordinator and actively encourage and promote female attendance in FFP boxing sessions;
• Focusing on females, ensure all females are welcomed and actively encouraged to train;
• Ensure female members are presented with the opportunity to compete by developing skill level and showing clear progressions;
• Working with the boxing coaches to deliver values-led boxing sessions;
• Support the youth workers and co-deliver Personal Development life skills sessions ensuring the participation of all the boxing members;
• Assist with on-going project evaluation;
• Promote gender balance amongst participants via focus on increasing female participation;
• Help to increase/maintain youth participation to meet Boxing annual participation targets;
• Support communications team to highlight members success internally and externally;

Ensure safeguarding and child protection policies are adhered to by the Fighting Fit team and immediately report any concerns to the Welfare Office/Deputy Welfare Officer;
• Assist with on-going project evaluation;
• Attend FFP sports and awards events;
• Participate in FFP Team Days and other training opportunities;
• Other relevant duties as and when required.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential;
– Level 1 England Boxing Qualification
– Minimum of 2 years’ experience of coaching in a boxing club or equivalent youth organisation;
– Direct experience of working with young people – a youth work qualification would be a bonus;
– A good understanding of issues surrounding youth involvement in offending, violent behavior and gangs within inner-city areas in the UK;
– Excellent communication and inter-personal skills at all levels;

Desirable;
– Level 2 England Boxing Qualification
– Experience of competing at national level
