General Secretary and Chief Operating Officer – Diocese of London

The Church of England in London is growing, vibrant and at the heart of communities throughout the City. The purpose of the London Diocesan Fund is to support this work, seeking to use our resources to support and facilitate the mission of our parishes and chaplains who seek to serve four million people.

The General Secretary and Chief Operating Officer is responsible for managing the London Diocesan Fund (LDF) and ensuring its operational effectiveness. S/he is responsible for contributing to policy formation and ensuring that the resources are in place for delivering the development of mission and the growth of the Church in the Diocese in London. Our exciting plans for London are articulated in Capital Vision 2020.

The post holder leads the LDF as Chair of the Senior Management Group and works as a member of the London Staff Meeting, Joint Operations Team, and other bodies. They will:

Energise and enthuse the staff of the LDF
Lead and ensure the resources are available to deliver Capital Vision 2020
Contribute to and, with others, shape and deliver the overall strategy for the Diocese and the LDF
Do everything possible to ensure the success of colleagues across the LDF and Diocese.

If you are a professionally qualified individual with senior executive experience then we would like to hear from you. You must be able to work collaboratively with other professionals and manage colleagues in a range of functional areas. You will be expert at identifying problems and opportunities, shaping solutions and successfully implementing them with colleagues and stakeholders on board.

The post is subject to the occupational requirement that the holder be a practising Christian under part 1 of schedule 9 to the Equality Act.
