Job Description
Newton Prep is a leading co-educational day school for pupils aged 3-13 years, children who are keen to learn and enjoy a range of P.E. and sporting curricular and extra-curricular activities. The P.E. department’s aim is to provide children with the opportunity to participate in a wide range of P.E./sports activities in order to instill positive attitudes to exercise. The PE Department has excellent indoor and outdoor facilities (including two gymnasiums, an all-weather pitch and a Sports Hall) and has a strong track record in extra-curricular activities with high levels of participation by pupils.
We are seeking to appoint a PE graduate or experienced Games Coach to join our PE department in September 2017. Your duties will include supporting the PE Department in the delivery of curricular PE and Games lessons to girls in Years 3 to 8; managing teaching resources; leading coaching sessions; accompanying teams to off- site fixtures and generally helping to motivate and encourage our pupils to develop and reach their potential in sports. You will need to possess excellent communication skills, a high level of skill in either hockey, netball, gymnastic or rounders and have had experience of coaching in two or more of these areas. The ability to work as part of a cohesive team and a strong work ethic are also essential pre-requisites of this role.
Working hours are 8.45 am – 5.15 pm Monday to Friday term time only (35 weeks per year) plus occasional weekends. The minimum pro-rated (actual) salary for the role is £16,621 plus an additional payment for occasional weekend working.
