Job Description
The University of Stirling is inviting applications for the post of Graduate Assistant in the School of Sport, commencing Monday 1 September 2015. The Graduate Assistant will assist with the implementation of the Sports Development Service’s strategy relating to participation sport. In particular, the Graduate Assistant will teach a range of physical activities to students, staff and members of the wider community. Experience of teaching a broad range of physical activities is essential; in particular, swimming, tennis and group fitness activities. Graduate Assistant contribution to one or more of facilities management, performance programmes or the undergraduate academic programme may be available to a suitably qualified person. The nature of the duties requires flexible hours of working. Graduate Assistants are expected to be available for practical teaching up until 8pm on weekdays and occasional weekend events.
Assistants are required to teach for c.15 hours per week and spend c. 9 hours per week organising and administering sports programmes and competitions. The remaining one third of the week is for personal study. A Graduate Student is expected to study part-time (2 years) for a taught MSc within the School of Sport. There may be the opportunity for postgraduate study by research. Tuition fees (to EU/UK level) of approximately £2,400 per annum will be paid by the School.
