The Position
The Head Coach of the Men’s Surrey County Cricket Club (SCCC) Team is a full-time position (12 months a year) that works with the contracted Men’s Players on the professional staff. The Head Coach will work closely with the Director of Cricket, who is responsible for the overall strategy and planning of Men’s Cricket. The Head Coach will be responsible for the coaching, developing and implementing plans for the individual players to compete on the international and domestic stages and for the team to perform consistently at the highest standards required to create sustained domestic success.
This position will work closely with the Cricket Management Team which comprises of Assistant Coaches, Physiotherapists, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Team Analysts, and Team Psychologist.
What you’ll do
• Develop First Class players who will perform at Domestic levels,
as well as growing their skills and attributes to compete
successfully at International level.
• Create the best prepared SCCC Players, Coaches and Support
staff who all demonstrate ‘Team First’ attributes.
• Work collaboratively with the SCCC Men’s Coaching Team assist
to identify and develop Players with the necessary skills and
attributes to consistently represent SCCC.
• Develop a clear SCCC playing style which creates success.
• Demonstrate capability in the creation and implementation of
highly effective campaign planning.
• Produce Players who have the ability to go on to represent their
country.
• Ensure individual Player performance is enhanced.
• Ensure the Cricket Management team understands, integrates
and communicates effectively with each other.
• Interact effectively and positively with the Director of Cricket to
ensure the development and succession planning of quality
players, coaches and support team.
The Person
The successful candidate will have the following experience / skills / qualities:
Essential:
• ECB Level 4 Coaching Qualification (ECB Specialist Coach) or
ECB Level 3 Coaching qualification with the ambition to embark
on the Level 4 or Overseas equivalent qualifications.
• Experience of the English domestic game and knowledge of the
requirements to be successful at both Domestic and International
level, as a Player and a Coach.
• A clear understanding of the cricket landscape within English
cricket.
• Strong technical knowledge, with specific expertise in at least one
discipline.
• Strong tactical knowledge relative to both “red and white ball”
cricket.
• Strong leadership skills with a demonstrated track record of
successful leadership.
• Able to provide the vision, energy and passion for Surrey Cricket
so that others follow willingly and in a fully committed way.
• Drives for results and can be counted on to achieve goals
successfully.
• Displays the courage to make tough decisions.
