Great Britain Cycling Team – Head of Pathways
What you need is
We are keen to hear from individuals who have the ability to lead & continue to evolve the GBCT Pathway (Junior & Senior Academy)
The role will be based at the National Cycling Centre in Manchester.
Role Summary:
Programme Leadership
1. Provide operational leadership to align GBCTs World Class performance pathway to the Olympic medal aspirations
2. Lead and empower the coaching team to develop, implement and evolve activity to ensure con-tinually improving programmes at every stage of the pathway.
3. Work with relevant Heads of Department in GBCT to align and integrate appropriate coaching, science, medicine and technical resources through the pathway.
4. Support the head coach or their delegates to ensure the quality of rider plans, programme activity and coach delivery meets the needs of the programme.
Senior Leadership Team
5. Collaboratively contribute to excellent and integrated leadership of the World Class Programme as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
6. Contribute to the strategic development and direction of the GB Cycling Team and be accounta-ble for attaining organisational objectives and targets; including & driving discreet projects outside of the Pathway arena.
7. Recognise the relevance and deliver regular presentations at conferences, symposiums and fo-rums in order to maintain British Cycling’s position as a World-leading programme.
8. Develop and enhance the knowledge transfer of “best practice” through effective communication channels, both internally and externally (as appropriate).
Athlete Recruitment
9. Lead, manage and evolve the Performance Matrix (Profile) that defines the competencies, benchmarks and experiences that riders need to develop into a world class rider.
10. Lead, manage and evolve the assessment, membership and review processes for riders on the performance pathway.
11. Provide regular reports on current and forecasted rider numbers against the allocated number of UK Sport Athlete Personal Awards.
12. Work with internal (e.g. British Cycling Talent Development Team) and external partners (e.g. UK Sport) to attract more athletic talent into identified ‘talent gaps’ within the pathway.
Rider Support
13. Support programme coaches to deliver world class development environments, ensuring athletes are provided with appropriate levels of support and challenge.
14. Lead and manage the delivery of a world class induction, education and transition programme for all riders and their supporters.
15. Work with the communications team to ensure pathway-related literature remains up-to-date and athlete experiences are regularly captured and published.
16. Where appropriate, attend camps, races and athlete visits to maintain positive relationships with coaches, riders and parents and maximise athlete recruitment.
17. When appropriate work with BC safeguarding, legal and UKAD teams to support riders
Management
18. Lead on, and where appropriate, directly manage the performance of the team, ensuring staff have clear expectations, timely access to feedback and continual improvement is encouraged.
19. Lead on the team’s people and finance processes to support the management of the pathway.
20. Ensure all work strands and projects are compliant with the organisation’s equality policy and commitment to inclusivity and that its values are embedded into actions and behaviours.
