Job Description
Responsibility to: RUFC Head of Community/ Health and Wellbeing Officer
Responsibility for: Young people accessing the project activities, the young people project steering group, coaches and support staff and volunteers.
Main purpose of the post:
Increase and widen participation in health and physical activities that improves their emotional well being and quality of life and helps achieves healthier outcomes for Rotherham people.
Create a coordinated programme of range activities that promotes health and encourages children and young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Specific Duties:
1. To set up community based health and physical activities for children and young people in Rotherham’s deprived areas and empower young people to manage their personal health.
2. To deliver a wide range of activities in different settings such as after school clubs, twilight sessions, weekend sessions, half term activities that increase physical activity.
3. To deliver healthy eating workshops and health information awareness sessions to young people so they are well informed to make their own health choices.
4. To use football as a tool to support young people to understand matters affecting their physical and emotional health and well -being i.e. alcohol and drugs misuse.
5. Support national and local campaigns that promote health and well-being i.e. Non Smoking day, Cancer Awareness, Mental Health Awareness, Heart Health etc
6. To work alongside the football club to promote health in a positive way to the wider community. To liaise with Rotherham United Football Club in order to utilise club resources such as player appearances and marketing
7. To undertake outreach in the community to engage hard to reach young people and those whose first language is not English
8. To create signposting links to other health and social care provisions for young people i.e. counseling services
9. To attend health related networks, meetings and health events, supporting partnership and sharing good practice.
10. To liaise with a range of key stakeholders such as schools and parents to ensure effective engagement and participation in the health projects.
11. To draw down additional funding to increase and enhance the project activities
12. Keep accurate up to date filing systems, data and records relating to health projects
13. To undertake project evaluation and monitoring as required
14. To support the marketing and promotion of health related activities

1. A committed to professional development and willing to undertake training relevant to the post.
2. The post holder will be required to work evening and weekends as the requirements of the job demands
3. To undertake other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time commensurate with the grade of the post.
