Responsibilities
of the interior design project manager assistant
Working with team members on
Design
taking client brief and considering sustainability aspect
site surveys and preparing ‘as existing’ drawings, plans and elevations
designing ‘as proposed’ layouts in plan and elevation for all rooms,
designing bathrooms and choosing fittings, tiles, etc.
designing joinery – wardrobes, shelves, cupboards, etc.
designing lighting layouts incl circuits and switching and choosing fittings
designing other electrical layouts i.e. sockets, spurs and
choosing fittings
choosing colours
choosing window treatments – style and fabrics
choosing furniture and soft furnishings
describing accurately and justifying designs and considerations to clients so they can make informed choices
Project management
monitor on site progress (and attend site meetings) and prepare client reports
liaise with clients, contractors and specialists
checking technical drawings and monitoring regulatory requirements
procurement of specialists and FF&E
oversee specialist contractors
undertake quality, cost & document control
preparing programme, budget, spec of works and contracts for contractors
Marketing
working on in all marketing activities undertaken by the business – photos, videos, social media, campaigns
Sustainability
collaborating within the team and the profession more widely to promote sustainable choices in design
Skills and experiences of the interior design project manager assistant
a passionate interest in interior design and sustainability
competent in Vectorworks, Photoshop, InDesign and Excel
some experience in project managing complex situations
organised and accurate
able to work autonomously
very high-level written and spoken communication skills: fluent in English, and able to communicate accurately and clearly to a wide range of people (clients, contractors, suppliers, specialists)
a beautiful and technically accomplished portfolio of good quality residential projects
not required but useful – some previous experience in other industries sectors such as office, retail, hospitality
well presented
