Junior financial journalist x2 – Rhotic Media Limited

What we offer
We are offering a permanent contract to join our team of financial journalists. As a junior member of our financial editorial squad, you will initially be writing editorial news and features, assisted by a senior journalist and supported by an external tutor who will work to craft your writing further.
Once fully trained, you will begin working on corporate assignments across the financial services spectrum. Likely sectors, based on the current client base, would include banking, investments and pensions.
We offer a competitive salary, flexible working, and the opportunity to be a part of a team that is committed to building a company that cares about its employees, its clients and broader society.
While the company usually offers the opportunity to work in a bricks and mortar office, we are currently asking that all staff work from home. We provide laptops and mobile phones to assist with remote working.
Rhotic Media’s pension scheme is with the National Employment Savings Trust, but employees are welcome to nominate their own pension, if they would prefer contributions are paid into another qualifying scheme. Staff are eligible for the pension scheme from their first day.

Who we want
We are particularly keen to hear from those with some experience in a local news environment. It is likely that candidates for this role will already be able to structure generalist news stories and features.
Crucially, we like people with personality. At this stage, you don’t have to fully understand financial services, but we expect you to take an interest in the wider news cycle at domestic, national and international level.
As a signatory to the Social Mobility Pledge, we are not prescriptive about educational background, but we would anticipate that the right candidate would have already completed some experience in a newsroom.
We may consider candidates that don’t fit this brief entirely, but we ask that those who do not meet this profile give us convincing reasons to be considered. We would also consider a job share for this role.
