Job Description
The Scotland Lacrosse Women’s Squad is a high performance programme, aiming for world class results at international tournaments despite the relatively low numbers of eligible players. The team is ranked 10th in the World and 5th in Europe, and is aiming to improve these rankings over the next 4 year cycle. The Head Coach oversees the programme, including delivery of physical, tactical and psychological preparation of players, provided through a team approach – involving coaches, manager, physiotherapist, S&C coaches and sports psychologist. The programme runs a performance squad and a development squad, providing joint training sessions and national/international competition and tours most years for both squads. All coaches deliver coaching to both performance and development squads. Most training sessions take place in Scotland, with occasional weekends in other parts of the UK.
RESPONSIBILITIES
● Assist the Head Coach in training, selecting, coaching and leadership of the Scotland Women’s Performance Squad.
● Assist the Head Coach and Development Squad Head Coach in training, selecting, coaching and leadership of the Scotland Women’s Development Squad.
● Coach all players to a high standard and equip them to develop and compete to the best of their ability as individuals
● Coach all squads (Performance & Development) to a high standard to enable each team to develop and compete successfully in competitions
● Actively keep up to date with, and deliver, the most recent and innovative technical, tactical, physical and mental aspects of lacrosse
● Assist the Head Coach and Development Squad Head Coach in the preparation of individual development plans for each player and engage in regular individual player feedback
REQUIREMENTS
● The Scotland Women’s Assistant Coach must be a highly motivated individual who aspires to be successful and to make the teams successful
● Ideally have international, NCAA or equivalent high-level experience as a lacrosse coach and/or a competitor
● A good up to date knowledge and understanding of the rules & regulations of the game
● Ideally a minimum Level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent
● Possess strong organisational abilities and demonstrate skills in managing players effectively
● Demonstrate a willingness to promote and grow the National Women’s programme in line
with the Lacrosse Scotland strategic plan
● Be supportive of Lacrosse Scotland’s vision of the growth and development of the women’s game
● Have strong communication skills and demonstrate the ability to build strong working
relationships
