Emirates Old Trafford, home to Lancashire Cricket, is an award-winning, world-class venue for sport, business and leisure. Over the last decade, the venue has undergone a transformational £60 million redevelopment and boasts intelligent events spaces for up to 2,000 delegates; a four star Hilton Garden Inn and an on-site Caffè Nero.
The Club’s official charity, the Lancashire Cricket Foundation, alongside The Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading cricket and disability sport charity, seek to appoint a Wicketz Development Officer with the passion, drive and enthusiasm to engage and inspire youth development through cricket.
You will lead the delivery and evaluation of Wicketz in Manchester, Salford and Trafford. This will include weekly cricket coaching sessions and personal development workshops, organising celebration events and festivals, and liaising with other Wicketz Development Officers and Lord’s Taverners staff nationally to develop sustainable opportunities to play cricket.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, deliver and review Wicketz activity in targeted communities of Manchester, Salford and Trafford, that is aligned to the needs of local people.
• Identify personal development topics and either work with local organisations, or create bespoke activity, to deliver workshops against these topics.
• Successfully engage young people aged 8-19 years old into a Wicketz community club, with particular focus on ‘hard to reach’ individuals.
• Utilise the young people to develop an offer which is youth voice led
• Develop sustainable partnerships / relationships with school and community partners to identify and attract young people and their families who may ordinarily not access community activity.
• Identify potential barriers to participation for such groups and seek ways to address those.
• Increase the available workforce through identifying, mentoring and managing volunteers, and manage sessional and other Lancashire Cricket Foundation staff.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of project delivery through relevant monitoring and evaluation, and performance management, processes.
Essential Requirements
• An ECB cricket coaching qualification.
• Experience in delivering safe, structured and enjoyable
sports/cricket coaching in schools, clubs and local communities.
• Experience of delivering development initiatives
• Ability to relate to, and engage, young people from different
backgrounds
• Understanding of the needs of target groups including women & girls, minority ethnic communities, disabled people, and people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Ability to use a solution focused approach to problem solving.
• Excellent organisation skills and ability to multi-task.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
