Job Description
MAIN PURPOSE:
To lead the delivery and development of a range of sports programmes, primarily aimed at engaging young people aged 9-19 years. To support any coach education and sports development programmes, targeted interventions and other funded positive diversionary activities as outlined by their Line Manager.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, plan and deliver high quality provision of sports activities, including sports for development courses to young people, primarily aged 9-19 years.
• To lead sports related accredited school inclusion sessions working with local schools to increase educational attainment and attendance and decreasing the risk of young people becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
• To design, plan and deliver projects in partnership with a range of local services including the Police, Local Authority, Youth Services, Youth Offending Team (YOT), Health, Education and any other relevant local and national partners including National Governing Bodies of sport.
• Support the delivery of Sports Leaders UK Awards Level 1-3 and other coaching courses. To support delivery of workshops addressing areas such as healthy eating, drug awareness and other health services.
• Support all young people including those who display social, education or behavioral difficulties, in positive activities and develop positive relationships and outcomes for all.
• To arrange venues for the delivery of activities and complete regular risk assessments to ensure the safety of all participants and staff.
• To attend, (where appropriate) Team around the Child (TAC) meetings for young people involved in BWI projects and provide feedback to Coordinator and/or Line Manager.
• Responsible for the inputting, monitoring and evaluation system (VIEWS) or other appropriate system, collect monitoring and evaluation information at all sessions and upload onto the online monitoring database. Input information as required and ensure the system is up to date at all times by managing any staff involved in inputting data.
• To support a strategy to promote services offered, engage and maintain interest of the relevant target group (local young people aged 9-19 years). This may involve outreach work and more general marketing and promotion within schools and community venues.
• To consult with participants and groups of young people in the planning stage so that young people are at the centre of the project delivery.
• To manage Support Project Workers, Apprentices, Volunteers and school and/or college placements/work experience pupils involved when required.
OTHER ACTIVITIES:
• To keep up to date with new methods and complete necessary internal and external training sessions as identified by your Line Manager.
• To undertake duties as can be reasonably expected to ensure the smooth running and efficiency of the projects.
• To ensure all staff and volunteers comply with the Child Protection, Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety policies at all times.
• To attend all relevant training provided by BWI.
