An exciting opportunity has arisen at Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club to join the Women’s rugby department alongside our experienced sports medical team. Exeter Chiefs are the West Country’s premier sporting club, with the women side playing in the Allianz Premier 15’s. Exeter Chiefs Rugby Club is steeped in tradition and prides itself on delivering professional workmanship, both on and off the field. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, hardworking and dynamic Lead Women’s Physiotherapist. The successful applicant will be driven to develop, improve and advance the women’s programme within an already high performing medical department.
Job Description:
The role of Lead Women’s Physiotherapist will be to deliver a professional, dynamic, and detailed medical service across our premiership women’s side.
The roles will be based at Sandy Park stadium but will encompass duties across multiple sites.
The applicant will be required to practice autonomously, accurately assess, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate players across a large playing squad under the guidance of the Director of Sports Medicine. The physiotherapists must be hard working, professional and self-motivated. Effective communication skills are essential. The roles will also require pitch side duties both game day and training. The chosen physiotherapist will be required to lead the women’s medical department comprising of one sports physiotherapist and work experience students. This is an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to learn and develop their clinical and rehabilitation skills within an experienced premiership medical team.
Essential requirements:
· BSc in Physiotherapy
· Senior experience in an elite sport setting
· Member of the CSP or equivalent insurance provider
· Registration with HCPC
· Current driver’s license
Highly desirable:
· Experience in rugby union
· Experience with womens sport
· AACP Acupuncture Qualification
· MSc sport physiotherapy/ Equivalent
· PHICIS Level 3
Key Responsibilities:
· Liaise with the Director of Sports Medicine and head of medical services in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of players
· Effective communication throughout MDT (players, coaching staff, Doctors, Physiotherapist, psychologist and staff at other sites.)
· Autonomously plan, develop and implement treatment and rehabilitation for injured players
· Develop and implement an effective rehabilitations programme across the women’s teams
· Creation of weekly schedules for strapping, screening and rehabilitation sessions
· Liaise with a diverse range of international womens teams in both fifteen and 7 a side rugby.
· Provide pitch side cover for all required women’s games and training
· Implement weekly musculoskeletal screening of all players as required.
· Daily maintenance treatment and delivery of rehabilitation of players.
· Keeping documentation on all aspects of injury management in accordance to the standards set by the Health Professions Council (HCPC).
· Assist the medical team with administrative obligations such as injury audits, medical insurance and other matters as required.
· To keep up to date with current best practices, maintain CPD and take an active role in the departments CPD programme.
· To carry out any other duties that may be required by the Director of Sports Medicine and Head of Medical.
· To ensure the club meets the RFU minimum operating standards.
