Lecturer in Biomedical Sciences (Internal Only) – Aston University

Aston Medical School
seeks a skilled researcher and science educator to contribute to, develop and enhance the research, scholarship and teaching activities of the School through professional practice and expertise, and in keeping with the School, College and University priorities. In addition, the successful candidate will develop external links with regional, UK and international bodies such as government agencies, schools, colleges, professional bodies, business and industry as appropriate.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding scientist with a record of research excellence to complement and enhance existing translational research programmes in neuroendocrinology, myelin regeneration, stem cell therapy in neurodegenerative diseases.

A total commitment to high quality undergraduate teaching is also essential, to cover the scientific areas of expertise and clinical application of knowledge. In addition the lecturer will assist in teaching anatomy.
The educational contribution will initially focus on MBChB and BSc programmes using a wide range of learning technologies and will emphasise clinical relevance throughout. Teaching commitments are likely to include large and small group lecturing and workshops, and online teaching and tutoring. A track record of scholarly educational development and delivery would be desirable along with a passion for enabling student learning, and an enthusiasm for cross-discipline working with colleagues across the University and NHS.
