1. Job Summary
The Glamorgan Limited Overs Head Coach is the senior official of the Glamorgan 1st XI for all matters concerning Limited Overs and T20 cricket, and exercises control over other Team Management personnel in relation to this format. The post holder is accountable to the Director of Cricket for the performances of the Glamorgan Limited Overs Team, and as such will provide the day-to-day leadership in this format of the game, and in conjunction with the Glamorgan Captain, Team Management and players will promote the highest standards of behaviour and discipline.
The role provides the necessary leadership and guidance to the Limited Overs Team in order to develop and maintain its place as a successful and respected limited overs team. The post holder exercises this role in close consultation and partnership with the appointed Captains for these formats who will lead the Players on the field, and the Director of Cricket in order to develop and deliver policies to create sustainable success. The post holder is charged with preparing the Team in all appropriate ways to compete successfully in ECB domestic limited overs competitions and promote talented pathway players.
2. Key Responsibilities
Selection
• To be responsible for the selection of the Glamorgan Limited Overs Team in conjunction with the Captain and Director of Cricket in line with the outlined Glamorgan selection guidelines.
• To provide annual recommendations for Glamorgan player contracts to the Director of Cricket.
Player Development
• To develop, implement and monitor individual development programmes for each player on the full time professional staff in conjunction with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach and other assistant coaches.
• To be responsible for organising practice and preparation of the Glamorgan County Championship Team in order for them to compete successfully in all domestic limited overs competitions.
• To take a senior role in preparing and implementing ‘out-of-season’ training and development programmes for full time professional staff players, including pre-season Camps and monitoring overseas ‘scholarship’ and placement programmes in conjunction with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach.
Science and Medicine
• To receive information from the Physiotherapist and medical staff on the availability and wellbeing of all professional staff players.
• To work in conjunction with the strength and conditioning coach to ensure the development, implementation and monitoring of player fitness standards of all professional staff.
• To direct the performance analyst in providing the necessary data and information to inform team and player development plans and setting benchmarks for performance in the limited overs cricket .
Competition
• To provide technical and tactical support and advice to the Glamorgan Limited Overs Captain including the sourcing of key information on opponents as well as Glamorgan Players in order to develop Teams plans and strategies for each match.
• To work in conjunction with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach to manage the workload of Glamorgan players, and particularly fast bowlers, to ensure high quality performances from all players throughout the season.
Coaching and Management
• To be responsible for the management of the Glamorgan Limited Overs Team and Management of staff in respect to these formats of the game in order to create a high performing unit.
• To work in conjunction with the Director of Cricket to help manage the deployment of coaching support to other Glamorgan programmes, and provide coaching support to these programmes as necessary.
• To work across all Glamorgan professional programmes as required outside of Head Coaching responsibilities to support the performance and development of Glamorgan players in all formats of the game.
Facilities and Equipment
• To liaise with the groundsman in the preparation of pitches conducive to good, entertaining limited overs cricket and Glamorgan winning matches.
• To liaise with the Director of Cricket regarding the procurement of equipment to support the efficient and effective operation of the Glamorgan Limited Overs Team.
Operations
• To liase with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach to prepare a schedule of Glamorgan Team activities in order to ensure the Players and Management are aware of events both on and off the field including official functions and other non-cricketing activities and obligations.
• In the event of a Glamorgan Player or member of the Management Team breaching their Conditions of Employment or otherwise breaching Team discipline, the Limited Overs Head Coach will be responsible for implementing the disciplinary procedures set out in the respective employment contracts or referring serious breaches to the Director of Cricket.
• To act as the primary point of contact with Umpires on all matters related to the ‘Spirit of the Game’, regulations and conduct of Limited Overs matches.
• To submit a report on the Limited Overs Teams and individual performances at the conclusion of each summer, and be available for debriefs with the Director of Cricket.
• To implement a performance management system for each Glamorgan player in order to set performance goals for the year, and continually monitor their progress.
• To conduct an appraisal of direct line reports in accordance with the performance management process of Glamorgan CCC.
Culture

• Work with the Director of Cricket and key stakeholders to help unlock diverse talent through multiple pathways.
• To work in partnership with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach, Captain and Director of Cricket in order to create an environment in which players are empowered to prepare and perform to the highest standards of professional cricket on and off the field.
• To work closely with the Glamorgan County Championship Head Coach and Captain on an on-going basis to ensure consistency of message from Head Coach’s and Captain, and provide leadership and direction to the Players and Management Team in order to achieve the goals for each match and competition.
• To promote the interests of, and assist in, creating a positive image for the Glamorgan Cricket Team in striving to make Wales proud of our performances both on and off the field.
Commercial
• To support the Glamorgan commercial department in delivering sponsorship obligations and building strong relationships with all our commercial partners.
• To support the Director of Cricket in delivering the Glamorgan cricket programme within the annual budget.
• To attend weekly senior management team meetings when cricket schedule allows.
• To be available to speak to the media before, during or after a match and at other such times as requested by the Media Manager or Director of Cricket in support of the Team and / or Club.

The Glamorgan Limited Overs Head Coach is charged with the responsibility of preparing the team to the best possible technical, tactical, physical and mental state in order for Glamorgan to compete successfully in the County Championship and any other relevant ECB multi-format first-class competitions.

4. Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
• UKCC ECB Level 3 Coaching Qualification
• Demonstrable success as a cricket coach at domestic and/or international level
• Experience of coaching in professional cricket
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience within professional cricket
• Ability to motivate and influence professional cricketers, coaches and teams
• Exceptional planning, coordination and organisational skills
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong disciplinary skills
• Driver’s Licence
Desirable:
• ECB Level 4 Coaching Qualification
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience of leading a high performance programme in professional cricket
• First Class playing experience
• Sports Science and Medicine professional qualification
• Self-contained operator with good computer/IT literacy
