Job Description
Aim:
To effectively plan, prepare and deliver coaching sessions in line with the National Curriculum with the purpose of:
• Increasing sports participation and physical activity
• Improving the health and well-being of children
Responsibilities:
• To deliver and plan coaching sessions in line with the National Curriculum, where everyone involved develops their skills, knowledge and understanding of sport
• To deliver coaching sessions where everyone involved develops their confidence and appreciation of sport
• To work closely with school teachers to help them improve their understanding of physical education
• To liaise with partners, e.g. school staff, to ensure the smooth running of any project or programme
• To collate information, including participant details, case studies, photographs and videos to assist in reporting to the project funders, (Premier League Charitable Fund)
• To lead by example when working with Junior Coaches, involving them in sessions and supporting their development
• To be prepared for flexible work patterns and unsociable hours
• To comply with all relevant Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Data Protection policies and procedures
• To risk assess all activities
• To ensure equality and eliminate any direct or indirect discriminatory practices and behaviour
• To manage accidents or incidents according to company policy
• To undertake training and CPD as necessary relevant to the post
• To use various techniques to measure impact of delivery
Person Specification
Qualifications and Training:
• National Governing Body Level 2 in Sports Coaching
• Level 3 in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport, (see notes below)
• Emergency First Aid
• Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable People
• Full UK Driving Licence and access to car
• Additional sports coaching qualifications; Multi-sports, fitness, dance, outdoor and adventurous activities would be an advantage
Experience:
• Two years coaching experience
• Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work within a team
• Excellent attention to detail
• Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative
• A knowledge and understanding of Physical Education within Primary and/or Secondary Schools
• A knowledge and understanding of personal health and fitness
• A knowledge of Health and Safety and/or Welfare, Safeguarding and Data Protection policies and procedures
• Experience of managing, promoting and delivering events would be desirable
• Experience of using computer software to manage data would be desirable
• Experience of using technology to deliver or evaluate work would be desirable
Please note: We will accept applicants without the Level 3 in Supporting the Delivery of Physical Education and School Sport however, successful applicants must be able to attend training on 20th-21st July.
