Purpose of the Role:
We are looking for an exceptional individual who is self-motivated to develop their knowledge and clinical skills, to lead physiotherapy delivery to our second team and academy players and assist the lead physiotherapist with the first team squad. This role is key for the future development of our academy programme, and development of professional behaviours early in a young cricketer’s career; to facilitate the successful transition for players into the senior team and subsequently first-class cricket.
We are looking for someone who is excited and energised by supporting young cricketers to deliver their best performances as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will need to be responsive to day-to-day events while at the same time maintaining high professional standards across a competitive calendar. In the winter there is a focus on development with academy training based at Malvern College, and the senior squad training at both Malvern College and New Road. In season the role primarily involves providing game day cover to the second or first team games whilst managing any ongoing rehabilitation and projects; support the lead physiotherapist. You are encouraged to be inquisitive and propose your own ideas on service improvement and delivery.
The successful candidate will deliver comprehensive rehabilitation programmes, based on sound clinical reasoning principles and excellent planning skills to develop academy and senior players. Experience of working in a team environment with high performance teams/individuals is essential. Previous experience working in cricket is not essential.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide day to day physiotherapy support and pitch side trauma care for the senior and academy programme players at matches and training as required.
• Provide evidence-based physiotherapy support for senior and academy squads for acute injuries.
• Provide rehab planning and delivery for more complex issues, working with the Science and Medicine team to support diagnosis and treatment.
• Provide specialist physiotherapy input to strength and conditioning coaches to support injury risk management, injury management, rehab and return to performance.
• Undertake administrative tasks relating to injury management including booking investigations and appointments, requesting insurance pre-authorisations, and completing medical insurance documents.
• Assist with musculoskeletal screening/profiling and work to manage performance risks.
• Assist with concussion baseline testing for senior and academy squads.
• Work with the relevant Science and Medicine team members and coaching staff to individualise player preparation and develop integrated support programmes for individual’s player performance targets.
• Discuss with the Strength and Conditioning (S&C) Coaches and Lead Physiotherapist regarding appropriate warm-up and recovery strategies to be implemented by the Physiotherapist in the absence of the S&C Coach at any Second XI fixtures.
• Communicate injury assessment findings and concerns with the Lead Physiotherapist or where appropriate, the CMO at the end of the day/match.
• Ensure that trauma management documentation exists for the venue and that pre-match trauma management meetings are undertaken with the opposition Science and Medicine Team and appropriate individuals.
• Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
• Undertake appropriate professional development to keep abreast of best practice and current evidence-based research.
• Keep notes of all contact with players and interventions to medico-legal national standards.

This role may involve training, supervising, working with and/or being in sole charge of children and young people, therefore, the successful applicant will be required to apply for an enhanced disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

Person Specification
Essential
• Current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registration with the
Health Professions Council.
• Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary support team and an understanding of the various sports science and sports medicine disciplines.
• Skilled in building and maintaining productive relationships with high performance staff.
• Sound clinical reasoning with the ability to justify tests and treatments.
• Good manual therapy skills.
• An on-going record of CPD with some specific emphasis in sports injury management.
• Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
• Ability to write and deliver rehab plans with appropriate monitoring.
• Knowledge of injury surveillance and workload monitoring methods.
• Completion of the Cricket Trauma Management course in compliance with ECB Emergency Care Standards will be required by the successful candidate.
• Basic knowledge of S&C principles.
• Advanced DBS check and Safeguarding training will be a prerequisite for the successful candidate.
• Full Driving Licence.
• Computer literacy.
• Ability to work within a team and to contribute to the overall success of the team and LCCC as a whole.
• The ability to travel to training and match venues.
• Ability to work irregular and unsocial hours, including work outside normal office hours, at evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
• A recognition of the importance of promoting and supporting equality, safeguarding and anti-doping within sport.
• ECB accredited advanced life support training within the past two years (or willing to work towards)
• Ability to work independently and effectively under pressure.
Desirable
• Two-years post qualification.
• Experience working in cricket.
• Experience in the support and preparation of elite athletes.
• Postgraduate degree in related field to physiotherapy.
Hours, benefits and salary:
• This is a full-time role and you are required to work the hours necessary to ensure success in the role. In order to achieve the expectations of the role and to cover the elite nature of the business, normal working hours will include evening and weekend work.
