Principal, BA Insight & Innovation – EBRD

Purpose of Job:
The Principal BA, IT Insight & Innovation works in partnership with business stakeholders to develop, implement and align technology solutions with business strategies. They are responsible for leading the collection, analysis and documentation of a client’s business requirements as part of the design of enterprise solutions and the definition of process improvements. Working as part of IT project delivery teams, the role nurtures a close relationship with business managers within the Bank to ensure that both project and long term strategic business objectives are clearly understood, documented and agreed.

Background
The Insight & Innovation team collaborates with the business to drive business performance through innovative technologies. Through strong relationships and a consultative approach, the I&I team shape and define initiatives and projects aligning business and technology strategy.
This role will support the strategic alignment of IT products to business strategies and demand management of the Bank’s user groups. The role is expected to interact with internal client contacts at all levels throughout the business and build credible relationships with key client personnel to understand the wider objectives, priorities and challenges within the Bank. The role also works closely with the various teams within IT for the delivery of business solutions that meet business need

Facts and Scale
Lead business analysis and consulting on the design of new or enhanced business systems that service 2,000 plus users in the Bank. Issues and interactions tend to be highly complex and have significant strategic importance
Interface with all areas of the Bank, all levels to respond to business requirements for business system solutions.
Some roles may manage an Associate BA, IT Insight & Innovation
No budget responsibility.
Represent IT at business demand forums and other channels of engagement

Accountability and Responsibilities:
Advocate the business requirements and priorities to IT in order to influence the development of enterprise architectures. Represents the IT vision and requirements to the business to ensure the best possible outcome for the enterprise.
Lead business analysis to design and gain acceptance for as-is and to-be business processes to produce sound solutions that meet business needs and supports the wider objectives of the Bank.
Work closely with Solution Architects and relevant clients at all levels of the organisation to ensure appropriate solutions are proposed and agreed by all parties.
Review test plans and monitors the testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested.
Assist Project Managers and/or act as project manager on initiatives as appropriate to deliver agreed work programmes.
Coordinate project assessment supporting the production of business cases for investment projects necessary to secure project approval and funding.
Develop and maintain stakeholder relationships across the Bank and externally in order to drive change and help to achieve the project’s anticipated benefits. Act as a focal point in resolving queries, issues and ambiguity during all phases of the project and working alongside the Project Manager to ensure the appropriate Change Management disciplines are applied.
Act as Project Managers for small to medium initiatives for items on the Demand Pipeline and ensure close collaboration with business owners on large scale projects.
Represent business cases and facilitate demand through ‘Demand Forums’ with the business and within IT.
Supports processes and practices for the Business Analysis practice curated by Insight & Innovation by creating standardised processes and templates to engage with the business.
Drive innovation initiatives across the Bank along with championing new ways of working such as analysis practices and methods using Agile.
Ensure strategic alignment between business and IT strategies by communicating technology strategy, plan and status to business stakeholders.
Act as liaison between business units, technology and service/support teams.
Support the Associate Director, Insight & Innovation in initiating innovative projects, pilots and proof of concepts.
Stay up to up-date with current market and industry trends by attending internal learning opportunities and external events such as seminars and industry events, bringing new thinking and ideas back to the team.

Treasury, Risk & Finance
This role will oversee the engagement with specific client groups (Trading, Risk, Finance, and Compliance). Amongst other stakeholders, this role will work closely with the IT Architect Trading & Risk, IT application owners and business owners for various applications. The role requires extensive experience of engaging internally and with vendors for these functions to formulate, analyse and optimise the performance of IT Trading and Risk solutions. Experience of the following technologies is an advantage: Finastra Summit, Finastra Fusion Capital, Markit Analytics; Numerix; ActiveViam ActivePivot. Experience of engagements in relevant software vendor organisations or financial institutions would also be advantageous.

Knowledge/Skills and Experience;
Education & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree. Masters preferred or equivalent experience in the area of expertise.
Professional Business Analysis qualification an advantage.
Professional certification in Project Management an advantage
Knowledge & Experience:
Extensive experience in leading business analysis, preferably gained in a multi-cultural organization.
Sound knowledge of the entire IT project delivery lifecycle and development processes.
Understanding of banking processes a distinct advantage.

Skills:
Agile methods and principles for requirements gathering.
Clear thinker, sound analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to develop deep business knowledge and offer advice that spans IT and business domains.
Fluency in written and spoken English mandatory.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with all levels of staff required.
Fine interpersonal skills, in particular service orientation, organisational awareness and people empathy.
Good organizational and multi-tasking skills.

The brief is wide-ranging requiring an understanding of various business areas and engagement with a diverse set of business users.
The role is required to balance long-term strategic IT goals with the need to accommodate new Bank requirements and changes to its organisation, operations, priorities and procedures
