The role:
The main purpose of the position is to ensure the product quality analysis is carried out and that results are in line with specifications. You will provide certification of final products and carry out environmental testing. You will evaluate plant processes and identify potential improvements to reduce batch times, improve product quality and drive process efficiencies and challenge and improve upon existing quality control testing methods.

Your responsibilities will include:
– Routine testing of raw material, in-process and final product samples
– Recording analytical results in line with company procedures
– Sampling of raw material deliveries including using the gantry (working at height)
– Inspecting road tankers prior to filling
– Calculating adjustments to batches during manufacture
– Preparing and sending certificates of analysis and conformance
– Calibration of glassware and instruments
– Sampling and analysis of effluent streams and river water returns
– Carrying out air monitoring testing
– Providing analytical support for development of current and new products
– Identifying potential improvements to plant processes to reduce processing costs and/or improve product
quality
– Carrying out laboratory and pilot plant scale work to investigate process improvements and new process
routes
– Carrying out investigations of quality control testing methods
– Investigating physical and chemical properties of existing raw materials and products
– Evaluating alternative raw materials to improve product quality
The role involves working on a rotating (continental) pattern of day and night shifts.

About you:
To be considered for the position you should ideally have the following skills and experience:
– Qualified to degree level (or possess equivalent experience) in chemistry or a closely related subject
– Experience of working in a commercial chemicals laboratory environment
