We are looking
to recruit a Regulatory Enforcement Officer within our environmental protection team. The team deals with waste regulation, dog control, litter and other local environmental quality issues.
The role
will be to help reduce environmental crime and anti-social behaviour, by patrolling the city centre and neighbourhoods, reporting and investigating witnessed offences, engaging with communities and taking visible enforcement action.
The shift pattern will be 5 days over 7 to include Saturdays and Sundays. There will also be some out-of-hours working.
You must be able to work independently, as well as part of a team, be confident in a variety of situations and be able to walk for long periods of time.
The successful candidate will have experience of applying and enforcing legislation, working with partner agencies and be a confident communicator with good organisational skills.
You will also be required to undertake a DBS check. If you are successful we will undertake additional recruitment checks which will include a check to see if you have had any criminal convictions.
As this post involves working with children, vulnerable adults or dealing with sensitive information, written references will be taken up and made available to interviewers before the final selection stage; even if you indicate otherwise.
For an informal discussion about the role, please email your contact details to psr@newcastle.gov.uk, marking your email for the attention of Roy Harris.
