Schools Activity Coach – Sports – Let Me Play

Job Description
Job Purpose
Let Me Play is recruiting 30 School’s Activity Coaches to join the Schools department in order to deliver our after school clubs programme across London for January 2016 onwards. This part time role requires the coaches to plan, deliver and report on an hourly session to take place in a Primary School setting.
With this in mind this role is suitable for someone with experience in facilitating either Sports sessions with young people aged between 5- 11 years old. This is a fulfilling and creative role that requires reliability, punctuality and dedication as you shall be developing young people through engaging them in positive activities.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The right person will bring solid coaching knowledge, experience, high energy and enthusiasm.
There will be a framework of coaching principles to work within but coaches are expected to bring their expertise and coaching knowledge and to set out lesson plans prior to every session.
Coaches must be confident and competent in their delivery and must be a team player.

You will be required to:
o Plan and Deliver a high quality level of session in preferred sport or activity.
o Communicate effectively with all participants so ensuring they are understanding and developing their skills in the activity.
o To continually monitor and evaluate all sessions, activities and programmes.
o To adapt sessions to cater for different ranges of ability and development age.
o To be familiar and comply with Let Me Play health and safety regulations and to undertake activity/venue risk assessments prior to all sessions, and report and record incidents/accidents/hazards.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Enthusiasm and highly motivated to coach and develop young people through Sport.
• Confidence when delivering to a group of 15 – 20 young people.
• Excellent Communication when delivering group sessions.
• Reliability when attending hourly sessions in a variety of locations throughout the week
• Updated DBS Check
• Time Management to be able to plan and attend your sessions for a variety of schools
• Previous experience of working with children between 5-11yrs old
Knowledge of safeguarding procedures (Desirable)

Education and Experience
• Level 1 Coaching Qualification with any Sport
• Degree with Sports (Desirable)
• 1 years’ experience within Sports Coaching
