Job Description
Birmingham City Football Club has an exciting vacancy for a Senior Goalkeeping Scout. The successful applicant will work closely with our Head of Performance to identify players within a modern talent-identification process. To demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of football and playing talent across the world and have a sound understanding of different clubs, footballing systems and styles of play.
Scope of duties:
• Ensure an efficient scouting process is followed and all primary targets are tracked and monitored.
• Identify potential transfer targets based on the guidelines set by the Recruitment Team (consisting of the First Team Manager, First Team Assistant Manager, First Team Coach, First Team Goalkeeping Coach and Head of Performance).
• Watch videos of goalkeepers and submit evaluation reports as requested by the Recruitment Team.
• Build and maintain relationships with clubs, academies and related individuals in England and overseas.
• Carry out extensive background checks on players that have been identified as potential transfer targets based on the guidelines and requirements set by the Recruitment Team.
• Ensure that scouting databases are kept up to date and relevant.
• Integrate alternative sources of information, in particular using relevant data and analysis, into the scouting process.
• Conduct other scouting assignments at home or overseas as directed by the Recruitment Team.
• Where appropriate support the talent id process of outfield players.
• Ensure compliance with all the Policies and Procedures contained within the Staff Handbook, paying particular regard to the Equal Opportunities Policy and Health & Safety Policy and procedures at all times.
• Any other duties as deemed necessary by your Line Manager or Head of Department.

Skills and Abilities
Essential
• A proven track record of identifying players with the ability to play first team football at the very highest level.
• A strong tactical understanding and an ability to translate key positional requirements into the scouting process.
• An encyclopaedic knowledge of domestic football at First Team level.
• An extensive knowledge and experience of the football industry and regulations governing players and recruitment.
• A strong network of contacts in English football.
• Proficient IT Skills and a familiarity with scouting databases.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships.
• Excellent communication skills (English essential) and the ability to produce accurate and detailed written reports.
• Strong organisational skills, in particular with regard to methodology, prioritisation and time-keeping.
• The ability to design, maintain and manage effective and efficient processes that are fit for purpose.
• Open minded to innovative scouting methods and the use of data to augment the scouting reports.
Desirable
• Previous management and leadership experience is preferred but not essential

• High levels of personal integrity, specifically in relation to confidentiality and discretion.
• Flexibility with working hours required to meet demands of the role
