Volunteering, coaching and participating in physical activity is at the heart of sport and is seen as a key tool in enhancing students experience and employability whilst ensuring the population remains active and healthy. Sport England has identified HE establishments as key drivers in increasing participation in sport and following a successful application this post is funded by the Sport England University Sport Activation Fund.
The University Sport Activation Fund is aimed at universities who are looking to enhance their sport offer. The role will develop ways to engage more students in physical activity as well as demonstrate the value that sport plays within wider university objectives.
The Sports Development Assistant (Participation) will assist the Sports Development Officer (Participation) to administer and deliver our participation programmes. They will a support the delivery of the current Campus Sport leagues and participation events, as well as assist with the delivery of our ‘Get Active, Stay Active’ activities. The post holder will help to recruit student activators and co-ordinators for the participation programmes, and support the activities they deliver. In addition, the role will also assist the promotion and marketing of the participation programmes to ensure maximum student uptake.
This is an exciting role for someone with a passion for sport and understanding of University life. This will be a varied role where you will assist both University based and external sports participation activities, and work with internal and external partners to increase student participation.

Sport & Recreation operates on an extended day basis over a seven day week spread over 50 weeks of the year. Therefore there will be a requirement for the post holder to work some evenings and weekends depending on work patterns and programme requirements. Time off in lieu is allowed for such working. The post holder will work a 37 hours per week.
