Job Description
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE: · To lead the delivery and plan of the Sports Science & Medicine Programme for all 1st team, reserves and assisting with U18s. This should include but is not limited to: In line with the club’s football philosophy create both long term and short-term training plans which are appropriately periodised for each playing squad. Manage the training load of the playing squad alongside technical coaching staff.
Carry out regular physical performance testing across the squad along with the associated interpretation and reporting results including maturation data
Working alongside the medical team to develop and deliver safe and effective return-to-play protocols.
Regularly contribute to improving the knowledge of the sport science and medical department to share information and ensure common practice.
To ensure that coaching staff are made aware of all injuries sustained by players and the progress or otherwise of such players at appropriate stages, in conjunction with lead physiotherapy ·
To contribute towards the achievement of the department in accordance with SFA Club Academy Scotland Gold Award status. ·
To liaise on a regular basis with the academy staff to link Academy players into the first team environment. To support the academy staff if needed and to support and manage the transition with the first and second-year professionals.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Essential
• Qualified to, or working towards MSc Degree in Sports Science.
• BSc Degree in Sports Science.
• Working towards professional accreditation ie. UKSCA, BASES or similar.
• Previous experience in a similar role within an elite sporting environment.
• Be able to communicate to the highest level.
• Have a flexible approach to working hours.
• Demonstrates honesty, integrity, reliability, and the ability to ensure confidentiality at all times.
• Friendly, approachable, well organised with the ability to multi-task and perform well under pressure.
• Possess strong time management skills and have a flexible approach to work.
• A commitment to continuing professional development.
Desirable
• Valid Children’s Wellbeing in Scottish Football E-learning certificate. • Full driving licence.
