Supervising Producer- Dow Jones – London

Job Description:
The Wall Street Journal is seeking a weekend supervising producer to oversee and produce news coverage as part of its global video team in London.
Excellent editorial, production and team-management skills are key for this position. While you will help manage a small London-based team with the executive producer of international, this is a hands-on role. We are seeking a strong editorial leader with a track record of producing timely international, business and markets news and political and industry analysis. Top candidates are ones who take initiative and can work independently to create videos that stand out in the 24/7 information cycle.
You will be based out of our London office, and will report to the London-based executive producer of international.

You will:
Lead the weekend international video news team, working a Thursday through Monday schedule
Work with the executive producer and a team of video journalists to produce news, analysis and topical videos of interest to The Wall Street Journal audience
Propose new and original ideas for timely coverage on a daily basis
Work closely with video journalists to hone story angles, strengthen scripts and ensure videos maintain highest production value
Research, write and produce coverage as necessary
Provide clear and productive notes on scripts and videos in edit
Monitor feeds and breaking news events
Collaborate closely with key newsroom editors, overseas video leaders and producers to develop best-in-class video journalism
Coach beat reporters and news editors to appear on camera or in voiceover
Mentor staff and provide opportunities for feedback and growth
Ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followed at all times
Work late hours as news developments and time zone considerations may warrant
Complete additional duties as assigned

You have:
At least eight years of experience working in a daily video news environment, including time spent managing journalists and small teams.
Experience producing compelling business, markets and tech videos under tight deadline constraints
A deep understanding of current events, global politics and economics, as well as a nose for news
A track record of translating complex business and economics stories into reporting that informs WSJ’s core subscriber base and appeals to broader audiences
Strong skills as a communicator and a collaborator
Unrestricted ability to work in the UK
