Team Manager Automation Services – Southampton

About the Role
This is a key role will be Leading the Automation team, following a recent restructure you will be joining a team of dedicated specialists you will be supporting and designing complex Automation systems and solutions that are essential to the University core operations.

iSolutions is one of the largest departments within the University’s Professional Services Group and provides all aspects of ICT to the University. This includes learning and teaching, research, and University administration, and supports a diverse user community of over 35,000 University staff and students.

What you’ll do
Manage the day to day running of the Automation team and staff members
Take a leading role in developing and managing automation process in our enterprise scale environment.
Proactively, work with a wide range of the other IT teams to exploit the full potential of Automating processes and infrastructure delivery. Using process such as infrastructure-as-code based technologies such as Puppet, Chef and Desired State Configuration.
Take a leading role in the planning of major systems installations and upgrades.

You will be leading a team of highly motivated individuals who are committed to achieving deadlines and customer satisfaction.

Experience
of managing teams of people to define and deliver departmental and organisational scale outcomes. Experience of leading and managing a highly technical team ensuring a safe a productive work environment
Skill level equivalent to achievement of a professional qualification or postgraduate degree in a relevant technical, engineering or science subject.
Experience of developing and managing enterprise scale infrastructure services.
Experience of working within a large-scale Linux\Windows server environment.
The ability to present your ideas and your specialist area, to a wide and potentially non-technical audience.
