Leading entertainment technology title, Total Production International – TPi – is recruiting an Editorial Assistant.
Established in 1984, Mondiale Publishing Ltd publishes international B2B magazines and websites that range across the hospitality, entertainment technology and architectural markets.
Based in South Manchester’s famous Strawberry Studios, where bands including The Smiths, The Stone Roses, and Joy Division started their careers – TPi covers all aspects of entertainment technology as seen and heard in a live concert-touring environment. TPi covers everything from the biggest tours on the planet to smaller, bespoke productions, festivals and the latest industry news.
The brand is also home to the TPi Awards, the live music production’s largest networking awards dinner at which the cream of the industry’s talent and creativity is celebrated. This event is held every February in London.
Job Description
Job title: Editorial Assistant, TPi Magazine
Reporting to: Editor, Kelly Murray and General Manager, Justin Gawne
Position: Full time. Working hours: 9am – 5.30pm (5.00pm on Fridays) but with some extended hours. May involve travel to events within the UK and occasionally overseas.
Duties and Responsibilities
This position offers a unique opportunity to embark on a career in magazine publishing with a successful, dynamic media company. As Editorial Assistant, you will play a key role in the editorial team. You will be responsible for bringing new and original content to the website, as well as sub-editing press releases for online use. You will maintain the large majority of the magazine’s social networking presence. Knowledge of the live music production industry is preferable but not essential; however, you will have the strength and ability to adapt quickly to the subject matter in hand in order to manage the daily news feed with ease.
Knowledge of content management systems, social media management and video editing would be a strong advantage. A working knowledge of Photoshop and InDesign would also be favourable, although not essential, as would experience and an interest in photography.
Once comfortable with the subject matter, you will be encouraged to utilise your writing skills and contribute to the printed magazine, as well as guide the online work carried out on the magazine’s internship programme.
When the publication is working towards print deadlines, you will assist the editorial team as and when needed.

Educated to degree level or above in Journalism, Media Studies or English, the successful candidate will be hard working, self-motivated and willing to work flexibly in order to maintain the high standards established at this fast-paced monthly trade magazine. The ideal candidate should be: dedicated to a career in journalism, organised, punctual, enthusiastic and excited at the prospect of joining a well-established title.
Applicants should be confident to work as an individual, bringing innovative ideas and journalistic flare to the role, as well as a strong desire to work in and learn about the exciting live production industry. The fundamental ability to work as a team player is also vital.
This role would suit a young professional with a background in generating engaging content. Ideally, you will have been working in a professional environment for at least 12 months – from frequent internships or employment.
