Adjaye Associates is seeking an experienced communications professional to manage the global communications for the three offices in London, New York and Accra. The chief responsibilities encompass press relations, marketing, social media, exhibitions and events. This is an exciting opportunity to join a diverse and cosmopolitan team, and to work at a strategic level with the most senior members of staff and the principal architect.
Responsibilities:
Press
deal with press enquiries in first instance, working with the graphics team on images/material for distribution
liaise with external press officers on events, launches etc. co-ordinating press strategy
write/edit press releases for sign off by director of London and any other relevant directors/consultants and co-ordinate web-based email distribution
keep practice press contact list up to date and co-ordinate regular mailings to promote/publicise the practice’s work
attend press events, lectures etc. to network on behalf of the office (may require some travel)
co-ordinate interview requests and help with the facilitation of photoshoots and in-person interviews where relevant
Marketing
co-ordinate the production of marketing material – notably project sheets and standard brochures for clients. This will include texts as well as graphic layout (working with head of graphics)
work with graphics and presentations manager to provide tailored marketing material for specific client meetings as required
work together with the Adjaye Research and head of project management on the production of expressions of interest, RFPs and tender documents
Website, social media
co-ordination of website content updates and management of social media postings (currently Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter)
Events/exhibitions
offer support to head of business relations on promotion of events, production of invitations and publicity (together with head of graphics)
support graphics team on the production/co-ordination of material for exhibitions
process lecture invitations. Communicate with graphics and presentations manager to ensure that lecture slides and presentation material is available on time
General
work with graphics team to implement general communications projects for the longer term – such as image distribution (for press), online standard brochures, collation of press articles
Required skills and attributes:
excellent communications skills (both written and verbal) and consummate interpersonal skills with people of all levels (from clients to journalists, directors to students)
five years plus experience in a similar role
interest in architecture and design and an ability to articulate the subject effectively
good organisational skills and ability to work to deadlines
self-motivated – ability to structure and prioritise work
lively personality and keenness to work within a fun, dedicated and cosmopolitan team
knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Office, email distribution and social media platforms
Background:
Adjaye Associates is a dynamic, growing international architectural practice, working on high profile projects across the world. A key member of the practice’s team, the communications manager will work alongside the graphics department, comprising the head of graphics and graphics and presentations manager based in the London office. The role will also require collaboration with Adjaye Research (the practice’s research team) and external consultants.
