MailOnline, the world’s largest English-language newspaper website with over 200 million monthly unique visitors globally, is teaming up with one of the largest and fastest-growing players in social media to provide unique and bespoke content for a brand-new platform for mobile devices.
We are looking for an experienced and talented designer to work on this new content stream. The successful candidate will have a knowledge of Adobe CS6 Photoshop but will also be able to use Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere Pro and After Effects. They will have worked closely with editors in a newspaper, weekly magazine or an online news operation so will have an understanding of how headlines and images work together to create the most effective ‘sell’ for the story.
The candidate will need to constantly come up with visual ideas that best ‘project’ the stories and make them enticing. They will be expected to suggest new ways to do this – using audio, video, moving graphics, as well as static pictures and headlines.
Requirements include:
Ability to generate engaging, visual ideas to illustrate the breaking stories and trending headlines of the day
Proficient in using Adobe CS6
Previous newsroom, magazine and/or online news experience desirable
Flexibility regarding working patterns
MailOnline operates on a rota basis, seven days a week, which requires a flexible approach to meeting shift patterns. Full-time staff benefits include a competitive salary and company pension scheme.
