The Jewellery Editor (thejewelleryeditor.com) is an online magazine for jewellery and watches, with leading commentary by Maria Doulton and her team. We cover news and trends from across the watch and jewellery industry, with dedicated window-shopping, auction and bridal sections, as well as brand/celebrity galleries and specialist videos. Featuring well-known contributors and figures from the world of watches and jewellery, we keep abreast of all the latest developments in the industry.
A respected journalist in the watch and jewellery industry, Maria also writes for the Financial Times, The Telegraph and Vanity Fair on the subject of jewellery, amongst many other publications.
About the role
Working from home most of the time – in London or nearby – this position is intended to support and assist Maria and her team to maximise content generation for, and traffic to, the website. We publish up to 20 stories a week and a significant part of the role will involve resizing images and setting up stories on CMS.
London based, 4 hours a day, five days a week
Key responsibilities include:
Resizing images in Photoshop
Setting up stories, including uploading copy/resizing and uploading images and writing captions, on CMS
Close liaison with editors, sub-editor and writers
Requesting images/information from brands
Adding brands to CMS
Providing general administrative support
Attending regular meetings in London with the editorial team and taking minutes
Essential experience/skills:
First class organisational and time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including computer literacy (Word, Excel, Outlook) and experience of dealing with business correspondence
A willingness to listen and learn and to take on responsibility
Desirable skills:
Experience in resizing images and creating collages in Photoshop
Knowledge of CMS
Knowledge of the watch/jewellery industry
A good honours degree (or equivalent)
Experience of working in a publishing environment
