The editorial intern will sit with the editorial team and work closely with the magazine editor and digital content manager to support the creation and publication of news, features and interviews. The position is best suited to someone in the middle, or at the end, of a degree and looking to work in journalism/editorial. You will be familiar with writing news stories and features but looking to gain experience and improve your skills.
Key responsibilities:
Uploading web content.
Some admin tasks such as sending out voucher copies of the magazine.
Supporting the team in the following:
Sourcing and writing news and features.
Generating feature ideas.
Assisting social media activity and digital promotion of content.
Proof reading.
Sourcing and editing pictures.
Representing the company at events (accompanied by other members of the editorial team).
Skills required:
Some experience with online and print journalism (via a degree, or equivalent experience).
Confidence to pick up the phone and make story enquiries.
The placement is for a minimum of one month, but can be extended to a two-three month period over the summer if the applicant wishes, dates can be flexible.
The position is unpaid but travel expenses (zone 1-5 London travel card) and lunch will be covered.
