Britain’s best camera skills magazine has a vacancy for a talented features writer.
What is the job?
Practical Photography’s new features writer will contribute to all sections of the magazine, from technique guides and creative camera projects to interviews with top pros and Photoshop tutorials. The position involves print and digital responsibilities, including an important role on the magazine’s acclaimed Learn Photography Now video disc and the creation of innovative content for the magazine’s impending new website and social media channels. The position is based at Media House in Peterborough.
What skills are needed?
We’re looking for a photography fanatic who has a passion for words and the magazine craft to take our title to the next level. You’ll also need to be versatile, organised and a first-class team player.
Proficient camera and editing skills are an absolute must, as is an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. Also, a hunger to learn new skills and the ability to pick them up quickly is absolutely essential.
You’ll need to be bursting at the seams with brilliant ideas, able to deftly articulate these ideas in a friendly yet informative way, and able to work across multiple platforms simultaneously.
What type of person would suit the job?
We’re looking for someone who is passionate, enthusiastic and very much a team player. Previous editorial experience would be preferred, but isn’t essential – on-the-job training will be provided.
